I can't believe that it is time to write another fundraising
report. It only seems like yesterday when I did the last one
in the Summer newsletter. I have just come back from a lovely
afternoon helping at the Happy Breed annual dog show. We hold
it every year in September and we always have a great time, meeting
some of our old friends and seeing plenty of lovely dogs in
all shapes and sizes. We were very lucky again with the
weather this year and managed to raise nearly £550. A huge
'thank you' to all who came. If you have never managed to
make it to one of our dog shows, do try and get to next years, as
it is well worth it.
We have also attended many other dog shows and village fetes
throughout the Summer, not only trying to raise funds for the dogs
in the kennels but also to raise awareness and publicise Happy
Breed and what we do. This takes a lot of work and commitment for a
small charity like ourselves.
Earlier in the year, one of our newer fundraisers, Heather and
her son Oscar held an open garden at her mum's house in
Surrey. We provided some books for her to sell and some
information leaflets about our work. They baked a lot of
cakes for people to buy
and also held a raffle. They made an astonishing £150!
Well done to Heather and Oscar! If anyone else
feels inspired to hold an event similar to the one which Heather
and Oscar, organised, or anything else they can think of and need
any help or advice or items to sell, please contact us. It
can be really good fun.
Our next big event is the Christmas Fair at the Adastra Hall in
Hassocks on 10th December from 10 til 12. Enclosed
with the newsletter are some raffle tickets and it is at this event
that the raffle will be drawn. It is always a busy event so
do try and come,
have a coffee and mince pie, and hopefully get lucky on the
raffle!! Donations of books, DVDs or small items of quality
bric-a-brac are always gratefully received. Please see
contact details on the website, telephone a member of the committee
or give me a ring. Telephone numbers can be found on the
inside front page of this newsletter.
Finally I would just like to say a big thank you to the
fundraising team. They are all great people, who do so much to
help out in so many different ways.
Belinda
